Nel. Well, we’ve come to the final day of this devotion on identity. We hope that’s it has been both encouraging and reaffirming.

Sharon. In all of this, we pray that you will always remember that God knows you, God loves you, God designed you, and God gave up everything to have a relationship with you.

Nel. Back in 2009, I was struck by the love bug. I saw Sharon and my heart melted. I had fallen in love and so I put a plan into motion. A plan that would, hopefully, make her fall in love with me to. Part of that plan included writing and recording a series of songs.

A lot of effort went into that music. I planned special dates and special ways to give her each song I created. The whole time hoping that she would become my girlfriend.

It took her a while to come around, but eventually she did. And today, we are married with children. Those songs achieved the purpose for which they were made.

Sharon. All I can say is I was vibed. I was really vibed and he eventually won me over.

Nel. God, who designed and created you, made you with a purpose in mind. He thought that purpose so important that he was willing to die for it.

Sharon. In 2 Timothy 1:9, Paul reminds us that God has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given to us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time.

The beautiful thing about this purpose that God has for us is that, it is not dependent on our capacity to perform. But rather on our capacity to trust and obey God. God wants to fulfil His purpose for us.

Nel. If we trust God with our lives, we will see his purpose for us fulfilled. God has eternal perspective. He knows everything that is about to happen in our world. If we trust him with every detail of our lives, we will see his purpose fulfilled in our lives.

Let’s pray together.

Good and gracious father,

Thank you for before we were born, you knew us,

You loved us, you designed us, and you gave us purpose

Teach us to trust in you daily

so that we may see your purpose fulfilled in our lives

In Jesus name, Amen.
