Identity Day 3: You are Designed

October 28, 2020 Nelson Muhire

Listen to the Audio above as you follow the text below

Sharon: Puzzles, I enjoy Sudoku and Jigsaw puzzles. While on campus I really enjoyed doing the Sudoku puzzles which were in the newspapers.

I don’t know where this love came from but, just trying to figure out how and where each number fit in the puzzles gave me so much joy. A friend of mine once gifted me with an entire book of Sudoku puzzles which had several levels. You can imagine my excitement

Nel: Life, sometimes, can feel like a really complex puzzle. Trying to navigate it and find your place or purpose in it can be challenging. Often times, I find myself comparing myself to others and thinking, “Perhaps I would be in a better place if I had what they have.”

It is easy to undermine who we are, how we look, how talented we are or how blessed we are when we trap ourselves in the bottomless abyss of comparison. In that trap of comparison, we forget the incredible truth that we were designed by God. Every detail of who we are was actually designed by God.

Sharon: I don’t know what you are going through? I don’t know if there are any lies you have come to believe about yourself. Lies like you are not beautiful enough, you cannot be loved, you are a no body. Regardless of what those lies maybe, I want to encourage you by reminding you that you are not a mistake.

Nel. The Psalmist writes in Psalm 139:14, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”

If you see Sharon and I standing together, you will see that I am the “fearfully” and Sharon is the wonderfully made one. Regardless, God’s works are all wonderful. We have the opportunity to embrace His design and know it full well.

Sharon. Psalms 139:13 says “For you created my inmost being, you knit me together in my mother’s womb. God took the time to design and mold you while you were still in your mother’s womb. He has great plans for you.

Nel. The next time you look at yourself in the mirror, pause and appreciate the marvelous design of God. When God looks at you, he sees a masterpiece. A work of art. Perfectly designed to fulfill eternal purpose. That is who you are.

Let’s pray together.

Father God,
Thank you for your love, ‘
Thank you that before we were born,
You designed us perfectly
and we are your masterpieces
Remind us each day that we are not mistakes
but rather destined for greatness
In Jesus’ name we pray,
